Weekend review

The past week has literally flown by so fast, I can hardly remember it. But I wanted to post about our awesome weekend and show you some pictures of our fun!
Friday Feb 8 ~ The triplets do not have school on Fridays, but once per month, we go on a field trip with their class. This past Friday, it was a trip to the local bakery, which we have never been to. They took the kids in the back to show them how the bakery works, then each of them got to decorate their own cupcake - so much fun! And check out the baker hats!! :)

Since our friends werent able to visit last week due to illness, we had rescheduled it for this past weekend. In the early afternoon, I got a phone call from my mom. They were making a surprise visit to see us for just 2 days this weekend and had already bought the tickets! Of course we were over the moon with excitement! Unfortunately that also meant our weekend with our friends was cancelled again. We're hoping to see them in the next few weeks!

We went to have dinner at our new friends' house at 5pm...which was a blast! It seems we have even more in common with them than we originally thought and the evening was full of much laughter and not a moment of silence!

We left there around 9pm, Tim dropped the girls and I off at home and he went over to the airport to pick up Mommom and Poppop (the flight was actually almost 20 minutes early!) I proceeded to put the girls to bed, keeping the visit a surprise for them. Of course, when Mommom & Poppop got here, they went to give kisses and hugs to each of the girls, even if it meant waking them up! The surprise and joy was apparent on everyone's face!

Saturday Feb 9 ~ Tim made a yummy pancake breakfast for everyone and we sat in PJs all morning playing, talking and telling fun stories.

Then it was time to quickly get showered and dressed to take Kaitlyn to a friend's birthday party at the bowling alley. We thought it would be fun to stay and let the triplets bowl for the first time! Of course, of all times...I forgot my camera :( So I dont have any pics of that, but let me tell you, we had so much fun! It was really cute to see the girls' faces as they watched their ball literally 'crawl' down the alley to knock down one or two pins at a time. I have to admit, it was nice for the adults to bowl with the guards blocking the gutters = NO GUTTER BALLS!! It was great! Then we had lunch with the party and Kaitlyn had so much fun. Their teacher even came to the party at the end, which was almost like a celebrity appearing for all these little first-graders! So cute, and what a nice woman she is.

Then it was time to head home so everyone could take a nap. The triplets all slept in the bed with Mommom, which was very cozy for them! Poppop helped Tim work on the kitchen cabinet project (which is still ongoing...) After nap, around 6pm, we drove out to the mall, looking forward to a reminiscent dinner at Friendly's, only to find out that after 30 years, Friendly's in the mall has closed its doors. So, instead, we had a yummy dinner at Ruby Tuesday, which was a lot of fun. Then I dropped one of my rings off at Littman's to see if they can replace a missing diamond. And we ventured in to Build-A-Bear Workshop to get information on having Kaitlyn's birthday party there. Meanwhile, the girls had fun in the toy store with Mommom & Poppop. On the way home, we stopped for ice cream at McDonalds and the girls did not get to bed until after 10pm.

Sunday Feb 10 ~ We were up and out early because church starts at 9am! I think although hesitant, Mommom and Poppop did enjoy the service, which was about following-through on commitments and keeping your promises. We have a rock band at our church, which is quite different than the old hymns sung with an organ. So, I can see how it would take people a bit to get used to. The girls had fun as always. After church, we had an early lunch at Denny's. Morgan decided to eat her pancake like it was a slice of pizza - too funny!

And then it was time for our fun activity of the afternoon... The Clay Station! Some of you may remember that this is the place we went for the triplets class trip in December. We thought it would be a fun activity for us to do together on a freezing cold day! And it sure was! We chose a fancy platter to paint with the girls' handprints as a gift for Mommom and Poppop. Also, each girl painted a small piece of ceramics for themselves.

Once again, we came home for naps and then the time came much too quickly for Mommom & Poppop to make their (safe) trip home. We miss them like crazy already, but we are so very thankful that we were given the gift of that time with them! The girls were so tired after such a busy weekend, Megan even fell asleep in my lap while Kaitlyn was reading us a story!

Immediately, our fun weekend turned into an evening of chores and getting ready for the week ahead! I hope everyone had a great weekend and have a nice Monday!

Wow-what a whirlwind weekend you all had. It all looks like so much fun. Now I want to go bowling! And I love the photos from the bakery too!

Question: Did you go to the Deptford mall again or a different one? If yes, is that the Friendly's that closed?? OH MY! If it is, just as an FYI there is another friendlys right outside the mall too:)

I think build a bear would be fun for kaitlyn's birthday! I hope it works out.

Sounds like you are keeping busy! I will talk to you soon!
