We are officially Godparents!

I wanted to wait until I had enough time to type a nice tribute in honor of the special occasion that occurred last weekend (April 27). Tim and I and the girls drove up to PA on Saturday to stay with our friends Carl & Anita. We had an incredible time. I am so thankful for how much our relationship has grown in the past year and a half. Tim and I feel a special connection with them and hope they share the same feeling.
On Saturday we just had fun. We shopped for fish for Ryan's fish tank, Carl took Tim to his manufacturing shop and of course Tim came up with loads of ideas of things Carl could manufacture! Then we enjoyed Carl's wonderful cooking again with cheesesteaks and homemade french fries... once again, I ate waaayyy too much!

I couldn't resist taking these adorable pictures after tubby time!

Carl & Anita surprised us with 2 very special gifts, which both brought tears to my eyes. One was this beautiful picture frame complete with Ryan's one-year portrait and this inscription at the bottom: "Thank you for accepting me into your hearts and making me part of your family. Love, Ryan"

And the other was a stunning handmade, cherry-wood mantel clock which has the Westminster chime every 15 minutes. This is a particularly special gift because I can honestly say, every time it chimes, I think of Ryan! How cool is that?! The clock also has a special message inscribed on the back: "May God shower you with His blessing and keep you close to His heart. Love, Anita & Carl"

Sunday morning was the special church service and ceremony for Ryan's baptism. He had fallen asleep in the car...so sweet!

They looked so cute walking in as a family, I couldnt resist snapping a shot of that as well :)

The ceremony was really nice. Of course there were times when Ryan wouldn't agree with that (heehee!)

But overall he did well and then we got some pictures in front of the church. We feel so honored to be chosen as Ryan's godparents, especially knowing that it was not a decision that Carl and Anita took lightly. What a special time!
Here's the handsome boy with all of his cuteness:

Can you tell we are proud?!

After church, there was a big outdoor party where probably 30-40 came. Once again, the food was awesome - including these 'special' hot sausages...oohh were they good! All of the moms and kids took a walk - it was nice to chat - while the guys stayed home to play horseshoes.
After all of the other guests left, Carl lit a fire in their fire pit in the backyard and we sat around it to keep warm. Of course we laughed and talked for hours, revealing more about ourselves than we even realized existed! What a relaxing time. I am so thankful for their friendship and I miss living close to them.
Of course, after that busy weekend, we were all so tired. The girls slept most of the way home (this was also the night that Kaitlyn woke up sick, probably after eating toooo much food!!)
Thank you Carl & Anita for this important honor of being your son's Godparents. And always remember we love Ryan with all of our hearts!
