Last Day of School

I cant believe it has been one week already since the official last day of school. Last Wednesday, June 18, my little girls finished up their school year with a mix of bittersweet emotions.
Dropping Kaitlyn off in the morning was special for me. It made me think back to her first day of school last September when she was nervous and unsure of what to expect in her new school. We didnt know anyone at that time and she was really missing her friends from PA. Fast forward to June, where she has a group of friends and has realized that she loves school here in NJ!
Once again, I forgot my camera that morning - so my new phone came in handy once again!

During her First grade year, Kaitlyn learned so much and grew as a student. Her teacher told me that she is one of the best with her handwriting. She got a perfect 100% score (plus bonus words) on every Spelling test (except 1, which was the word 'because'). She is now reading chapter books all by herself with ease. In Math, they learned temperatures, geometry, fractions, double digit addition & subtraction. There was the fun field trip to Adventure Aquarium. Holiday parties and concerts and several class parties. They had an impressive Field Day (day before last),which included face painting, water balloons, games, a DJ who set up organized dance routines, hot dogs, pretzels and snow cones! Her weekly specials included Spanish, Music (she learned how to play the keyboard), Library, Gym, Art & Computers. Every Friday they have an assembly that spotlights a different anti-bullying technique or ways to be a positive person.
The triplets absolutely loved their first year of Preschool here in NJ! And we are so very thankful that we discovered the wonderful program that our district offers for them. Megan & Morgan were together in class with their teacher Miss Beth. Madison was in a larger class with Miss Brooke. During this school year, both preschool classes took many fun field trips to places like the Pumpkin patch, the bakery and the Pizza shop. They learned how to write their names and did very creative art projects. I saw an improvement in them this year and all three seem to be more outgoing. Megan received OT and speech all year, which helped with her coordination and annunciation of words. Morgan received speech therapy to help her feel more confident speaking with adults and in front of a large group.
Since it was early dismissal, Poppop came with me to pick them up at 1:00pm. I had brought gifts for all of the teachers and aides in the triplets' classrooms. We got them each a beach towel, tied with a ribbon and a personalized note from each girl - they all seemed to love it!! Then Pops and I took them out to Wendy's for a fun lunch to celebrate the end of the school year. There was a guy that even gave them balloons there - it was an extra special treat.
When we got home, I took some cute pics of my precious girls on their last day:

Just minutes after coming home, we heard the ice cream truck! For the first time this season, we ran out and got some ice cream - each girl picked something different...

Happy ice cream faces - check out Madison!!

Kaitlyn also had her last softball practice that night at 6pm, she was so sad to see that end. She had definitely improved in these 6 weeks or so - and she really enjoyed it! After practice, the whole team went to Dairy Queen for ice cream to celebrate. It was a lot of fun and a nice way to end such a special day!
