First/Last Sentence: Does not apply to this book, as it is a series of notes.
What its about(taken from amazon.com): A compilation of notes posted on a refrigerator by a single working mom and Claire-bear, her wistful teen daughter. Bittersweet, funny and achingly real, the nameless mother (an overworked obstetrician) and bubbly Claire communicate through these notes instead of talking, e-mailing or text messaging. Kuipers captures the anxiety surrounding tragedy and conveys the importance of fully experiencing life. This book delivers a strong, emotional reminder about the importance of loved ones, even through times of unceasing complications and challenges.
My thoughts about this book: This was a very quick read for me - I finished it in probably 2 hours total (spread out across maybe 12 hours). Each note is short and sweet, but some pack a powerful punch. Although character development is limited, you can really feel for both the mother and the daughter. Once again, as a mother of daughters, their relationship intrigued me. I also like the fact that it touches on the theme of living life to its fullest each day (which reminds me of the 30 days to live series). By the end, I felt that this tiny little book had accomplished something, in the simplest of forms.
When I finished it: March 9, 2008
