TV Talk ~ American Idol

The Top 5 sing!
Neil Diamond night ... each sings 2 songs tonight

Judges wait to give feedback until after both songs are complete
It was definitely cramming to get it all in tonight.

Round 1
1. Jason Castro: Forever In Blue Jeans - he played guitar while singing -sounded nice, of course I don't know this song (neither did he!) but I think he did well.
2. David Cook: I'm Alive - another one playing his guitar -Neil Diamond really liked him - definitely a 'rocker', he did well although not my fave. He definitely has a voice for radio.
3. Brooke White: I'm a Believer - another guitar player -Neil was pleasantly surprised - I cant help but picture Shrek and Donkey whenever I hear this song now...heehee. She put a country twang to it, which made it a bit unique. But not the right song choice for her.
4. David Archuleta: Sweet Caroline - first to not play an instrument so far tonight -Neil called him a prodigy - Wow - I still rank him #1 in my book - he seemed to have fun, he always looks so happy (and nervous) but I think he sang it really well.
5. Syesha: Hello Again - She sat on the stage in a pretty purple dress - sounded sweet
--Judges gave a brief overview opinion - I cannot even remember what they said because I am so caught up in Paula Abdul - she is either high or drunk or both - she forgot who was who and thought they had already sang twice - OMG!!!!!

Round 2
1. Jason Castro: September Morn - no instruments- sounded nice, but definitely forgettable. Jason has a nice voice, but he is a boring performer. Judges agreed with me.
2. David C: All I Really Need Is You - he played the guitar again - this was probably my fave performance of him ever - sounded very nice - Simon called it brilliant!
3. Brooke White: I Am I Said - she played the piano this time and wrote some lyrics on her palm that she was afraid she'd forget - she sounded great and did a very nice job - the judges liked it better than her first performance
4. David A: America - I love this song! I didn't love his performance though... He didn't seem as into it as he should have been (in my opinion) but the judges loved it.
5. Syesha: Thank the Lord For the Night time - another one I never heard of - not so good. But she looks much better tonight with her hair down and all. Paula called Syesha 'Brooke' during her review.

Overall: Syesha should go home tomorrow night.
My Top 3 faves of the night would be: Jason Castro, David Cook & David A (in that order)

TV Talk ~ American Idol

The finale is just 4 weeks away!
Top 6 perform songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber:

1. Syesha - One Rock & Roll too Many (?) - This girl really irks me. I never heard of the song, don't even know if that's the right title. Randy thought it was her best performance to date (huh??) Paula loved her as well - but who doesn't Paula love. And Simon thought it was sexy. hmmm... My guess is that she will go home this week.
2. Jason Castro - Memory - Webber did not have much confidence in Jason's choice. Jason's first time in a suit on the AI stage. I love the sound and tone of his voice, incredible and unique. The judges pretty much hated it. Randy called it a vocal train wreck. Simon said it was miserable. I disagree, I think he did well and made that song his own.
3. Brooke White - You Must Love Me - Well, she started a few words, then completely stopped. Had to start over. I have mixed feelings about her performance. She sang pretty well, but it was nothing overly special. And with her mess-up at the beginning, she may find herself in the bottom 3 again this week. For the first time, Paula was stern with her and said 'NEVER stop and start.' Interesting.
4. David Archuleta - Think of Me - 1-866-IDOLS-04 or IDOLS-10 OK, still my favorite. He has a soft tone to his voice, soothing, quiet. But it does make it a bit hard for him to hit those higher notes. He chose a nice song, put a little of his own twist to it. Judges liked him and Randy called him the 'one to beat'!
5. Carly Smithson - Jesus Christ Superstar - Webber made her change from her original choice because he felt this one fit her personality better. It was definitely the right song for her in my opinion. She did pretty well and the judges loved it. She held up a t-shirt at the end that said 'Simon loved me (this week)' So cheeky of her...
6. David Cook - Music of the Night - Uh, well, it was ok I guess. I have to be honest here, I don't really care for this kind of music. So that may skew my opinions. The judges raved and my dear friend Colleen thinks that may have just won it for him. Hmm...I may have to listen to it again.

I would say Jason Castro was my favorite of the night.
My guess for the top 3...David A (of course!), Jason and David C.
Going home tomorrow night? Syesha.

TV Talk ~ American Idol

This week: Mariah Carey songs
Top 7 Performances:
1. David A - When You Believe - He wore black leather pants, which looked kind of funny to me, as I consider him like a little boy. The judges thought he sung the song very well. For me, it was slightly awkward. He is definitely still my favorite, I just don't particularly care for Mariah Carey songs, so this will be a bit rough for me to get through.
2. Carly Smithson - Without You - I liked Carly in the beginning and still do, she's definitely not bad. But at this point in the competition, I think she should come in the bottom 3 this week. Her performance was 'fair' in my opinion. The judges were mixed, but mostly said she could have done much better.
3. Syesha Mercado - Vanishing - This is another I want to see in the bottom 3 this week. I did not like her performance, but she did look beautiful and she reeks of confidence. The judges were impressed by Syesha this week.
4. Brooke White - Hero - Brooke is my second favorite singer (after David A). Of all the songs chosen this week, hers was my favorite. She played the piano while singing. Unfortunately she seemed very nervous this week and her voice got shaky toward the end. The judges were mixed again.
5. Kristy Lee Cook - (can't remember?) - And this girl should be the 3rd in the bottom 3 this week. Her performance was boring for me. The judges were mixed on their reviews, but overall they werent so good.
6. David Cook - Always Be My Baby - He made this song completely his own and I liked how it sounded. The judges loved it and gave rave reviews. In fact, David C had tears in his eyes after Simon's comments. It was nice and different from the others.
7. Jason Castro - I Don't Want to Cry - I have come to really like Jason, especially last week (which was my absolute favorite performance of the season so far). He did pretty well tonight. Definitely the guys were better then the girls because there wasn't as much of a comparison, trying to sing like Mariah (which is impossible).

TV Talk ~ American Idol (Spoiler)

First of all - Blake Lewis performed tonight and he did....AWESOME! I love him (still). And the song he sang is my favorite from his CD...aw, my Blake. Here is the youtube video of this song (not him actually singing tonight, just pics of him):

OK, sorry, back on topic! A good friend of mine sent me this link to an American Idol Blog, if you're an Idol fan, check it out! http://american.idolblog.com/ Another site I have checked out for the past few seasons is: http://www.rickey.org/. You can view all of the performances on there and even download them (for FREE) from that site.

Well tonight was the vote off and overall I think America got it right. The guys did fantastic this week, in my opinion. I think a few guys really shined and showed their true talent. Of course, my favorite is still David Archuleta, by far the best. But this week, some new stand outs for me were...Jason Catro & David Cook. As for the girls, my favorite is still Brooke White and I also liked Kristy Lee Cook (who came TOO close to going home tonight).

Eliminated this week: Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Asia'h Epperson and Danny Noriega. I was bummed about losing Kady, I definitely think Amanda (rocker) should have gone before Kady, but it's all good. I had said before I liked Danny's personality, but I can see how he could get annoying, which I think is exactly what happened this week. Luke was a dud and should have gone home last week.

ANNOUNCING the TOP 12:
Boys: -------------------------- Girls:
David Cook -------------- Ramiele Malubay
David Archuleta --------- Carly Smithson
Jason Castro ------------ Kristy Lee Cook
David Hernandez --------- Brooke White
Michael Johns ----------- Syesha Mercado
Chikezie Eze ------------ Amanda Overmyer

TV Talk ~ American Idol

Last night the remaining 10 guys sang. Tonight, the 10 girls sang.

I think this week went better than last week, overall. But there is really only one guy singer that I like...

David Archuleta, the little 17 year old cutie pie. He has a great voice, good stage presence and (so far) is not full of himself, letting it get to his head. He is just an all around likeable guy.

Another guy that I kind of like (and definitely never thought I would) is...

Danny Noriega. He is an 18 year old, kind of funky and quirky guy and really funny personality. I can see that he could become highly annoying though, so he better watch that.

I think Luke Menard is really cute, but his personality is a dud. I had to laugh when Ryan Seacrest referred to him as Luke Perry...so true! Jason Castro looks like a hippee or something with all that crazy hair. And Jason Yeager looks a bit like Nick Lachey in my opinion, no complaints here!

As for the girls, my stand out fave is...

Brooke White. I thought she did great tonight, had great stage presence playing her guitar and she's so cute. She's also a nanny which I think is cool!

And probably my second favorite girl is...

Kady Malloy is only 18 years old, seems the younger ones have an edge this season. She is gorgeous, sings well and is funny when she does her impressions of Britney Spears and Shakira, etc.

Carly Smithson is interesting - she's Irish I think and speaks with a fun accent. She's one of my top picks for the girls. I really don't care for Amanda Overmyer - she looks freaky and doesn't really sing that well. It's almost like she tries too hard.

So, we'll see who goes home tomorrow night. I don't even have a guess this week. I just hope its not one of my faves!
