Last Saturday, Pops and I took the girls to Wildwood for the afternoon. How cool is it that we can jump in the car and be in Wildwood just 45 minutes later!?
The air was all smokey and there was this burning smell in the air. I asked a few people and no one knew what it was. I read online here a few days later that it actually came up the coast from major fires going on down in North Carolina! Can you believe that?! Ironically, Monday morning there was an actual fire under Morey's Pier in Wildwood. Read more here.
But enough of that - we had a lot of fun. First we got pizza at Mack's (which is different than our Mack n Manco's in OC). We did some shopping. After walking the whole length, we rode the tram car back - worth every penny!! The girls panicked whenever they heard 'Watch the tram car please.' They quick ran as far away from the track as they could - it was pretty funny. If you have never been to Wildwood - beware - that gets quite annoying hearing 'Watch the tram car please' over and over and over again. But for the girls it was like a whole new experience...cool to see things through their eyes.
Also, another funny story - toward the end of our time there, Morgan's shoe broke. The strap just came right off. So then we had to quickly find her a pair of shoes. Luckily thats not a hard task on the WW boardwalk - so she got to pick out a fun pair of Hot Pink water-type shoes.
Can you see how smokey it was?
Even looked hazy down the boardwalk:
Girls loving Poppop!
Riding on the tram car...
Kaitlyn actually took this pic - not bad, huh?
Notice Morgan's shoes - they were broken at that point:
Where we had lunch/dinner:
There was a sign announcing that every Friday night at p there will be fireworks on the beach - may be something we will head down to check out at some point this summer.
Before we left, the girls climbed on these huge beach ball statue-type things that are set up in front of a big Wildwood sign. I dont remember seeing this when we were there last August, but maybe I just missed it...
The girls and I are in front of the first D...see us?
There we are!
And check out the new shoes!
After the boardwalk, we went to check out an ice cream place called Duffers. One of the mom's at our school told me about it, so we wanted to try it out. The ice cream was pretty good - but it was packed - I guess it's a pretty popular place!
We got home around 9:30pm and were so exhausted - it was a fun but exhausting day!

It sounds like you guys had such a great time! Pop-pop's looking hansome in his muscle shirt! Wildwood looks so different from when I was there last--thanks for giving a glimpse of shore life to us further inland!
