Carefree on the Beach

It is amazing to watch the carefree spirit of kids. On Friday, my cousin came down to visit with her kids and we took them to the beach less than 10 minutes from our house. The whole way there, they were so excited and full of energy. Luckily for us, we found great parking just one block from the beach. Got everyone unloaded and off we went. Walking up the steps to cross over into the sand, there were some complaints about taking off shoes and would the sand be hot. But once they each (6 of them!) took that final step onto the beach, their worries were history.
So of course I grabbed the camera! I love it! And so did they...

Try to enjoy a carefree moment yourself this week...

Decorating

Today was a fun family day...we spent the morning decorating the girls' bedrooms. Kaitlyn and Megan have a Tinkerbell theme and the walls are pink & green. Morgan & Madison's room has the Disney Prinesses and the walls are pink & purple. We had a blast putting up wallpaper borders and stickers in both rooms. Of course Tim got his creative spark going and started to build a 'treehouse' in the Tinkerbell room, made out of cardboard boxes...oh my! I tried to be a good sport, but finally had to pull him away from it to work on more imperative tasks. ;) After their bedrooms, we moved downstairs and started hanging pictures from our PA house. Once again, it's nice to feel that little piece of 'home' brought in. Then we hung new curtains in the Living Room - it was a great feeling to tear down those big old heavy vertical blinds! And guess what color curtains we put up?? Black! I never thought I would hang black curtains, but I think it looks nice and it's starting to come together. We also hung new vertical blinds in the Family Room. This was necessary due to the fact that half of the slats were missing or falling off - oh my! While I put the girls up for nap, Tim replaced the outside lights on the front porch and by the garage. He also replaced the deadbolt on the front door ... for obvious security reasons! And he hung a new mailbox on the front porch, which definitely needing updating. So after all of that hard work, we spent a nice night with the girls. After dinner, we made S'mores - a yummy, messy, fun treat which we all enjoyed! And then we had game night, where we made our first attempt at playing Chutes & Ladders and ended with a Dora ABC game, which the girls loved! So, now the To Do list will continue tomorrow, but for now it's time to enjoy our hard work and relax a bit in front of the TV! You gotta love the DVR! ;)

Pictures from Maria's wedding

Here are a few pictures from Maria's wedding in Washington DC on Sat August 18, 2007. The Bride & Groom of course... And then my four little princesses! Cheers!

New to the Blogging World!

I decided now is as good a time as any to enter the world of blogging. With all of the changes going on in our lives right now, I definitely need a place to express my thoughts. Besides, what better way to stay in touch with everyone and share pictures of my four little princesses!

So, here we are. Surrounded by boxes and totes, kitchen counters piled high, and the front porch holding the armoires that wouldnt fit up our steps! But aside from those 'minor' issues, we are settling in nicely. According to the girls, this is "home" and they have set themselves up all over the house! We replaced all of the carpeting throughout the entire house, painted every room (and all that dark trim and doors), replaced & updated the powder room, put in a brand new bannister on the steps, built a master bedroom walk-in closet, remove some bushes, and on and on!

It is certainly a huge adjustment learning to live so far from everyone we love. But we are trying to enjoy the moment and learn to 'dance in the rain'. Of course, we treasure every time someone comes to visit, it's like bringing in a little piece of 'home'. So, keep 'em comin'!

Oh & last, but definitely not least - today is our 9 year Wedding Anniversary! We enjoyed the day together as a family. We registered Kaitlyn at her new school, had a nice family dinner and took a long walk on the bike path up to the local park. For me, it was a blessing just to have Tim home with us and the best gift I could ever ask for is the love I get from Tim and my girls! Here's to our future... full of many laughs and much love!!
